Asus Logo – ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is pronounced ‘aa-Suess’ is a company based in Taiwan, dedicated to the production of motherboards (mainboards), graphics cards, optical drives, PDAs, laptops, hardware products for managing networks, mobile phones, computer boxes, and systems of cooling for computers. Commonly it is called by its brand name ASUS (pronounced [asus]). Its shares are listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Tung TH n, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and MT Liao and his mother – all four were computer engineers from the firm Acer. The current president and president of ASUS, Jonney Shih, joined the company in 1994. According to the ASUS sales manager Alexander Kim the name ASUS originated in the English sense Pegasus, which refers to the winged horse of Greek mythology. The first three letters of the word were deleted to give the resulting name a position preferably in alphabetical lists.
In 2004, ASUS announced it had sold more motherboards than the sum of sales of the other three industry leaders, reaching 30 million. These figures, however, include contracts with firms that sell baj Technology | Gigabyte, and MSI are recorded 104.86 million units. ASUS provided with about 52 million units, followed by ECS with 20 million, MSI with 18 million and Gigabyte with 16.6 million. MSI revised its orders for 16.7 million units initially estimated at 18 million, according to the company. ASUS also produces components for other companies, which include Sony (PlayStation 2), Apple Computer (iPod ,iPod Shuffle, MacBook), Alienware, Falcon Northwest, HP and Compaq.
