Linkin Park Logo – Linkin Park is a band U.S. of rock, from Agoura Hills, Los Angeles, California, formed in 1996. Initially consisted of Mike Shinoda, Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon and Mark Wakefield, the latter as lead vocals. The band started in 1996 his first musical work independently and subsequently recorded their first material called Xero, but had no success in finding a record label since none showed interest in his work, which caused the resignation Mark Wakefield.
Shortly after Chester Bennington joined the band as lead vocalist, the group made its first appearance at a club in Los Angeles backed by Jeff Blue, which were well received by the public and this acceptance convinced the record label Warner Bros. Records and in collaboration with producer Don Gilmore released Hybrid Theory. So far being his most successful album with 24 million copies sold worldwide in addition to being certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005 and multi-platinum in several countries, coupled with this becoming one of the biggest selling albums of the century. His next studio album, Meteora, continued the band’s success, achieving top the list of Billboard 200 album chart in 2003. July 8 that year in MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth best band in the music video era and the third best band of the new millennium behind Oasis and Coldplay, and Billboard’s ranked 19 of the best artists of the decade. The name is a play on words referring to Lincoln Park in Santa Monica.
The group is known for its distinctive musical style that blends rock, rap and electronic sounds, but since its inception it was considered like a metal, until it was their second album Meteora, then opting for this genre and the rap metal, yet his third album Minutes to Midnight decided to explore other genres, becoming a more ‘soft’ oriented alternative rock. Later with his album A Thousand Suns registered a much more experimental, such production becomes the fourth album of the band in a row to reach number 1 on the charts in its first week of sales. The band has sold 50 million albums and won two Grammy.
