Megaupload Logo – Megaupload was the main website for file hosting service, founded on March 21 of 2005 by Megaupload Limited in Hong Kong. Since January 19 of 2012 is disabled by the FBI U.S. for alleged copyright infringement. The domain megaupload.com attracted at least 10 million visits in 2008 according to a study by Compete.com. The basic service was available for free and allow users to upload files up to 2 GB. The user could not download free files over 1 GB, but the registered user could download 100 GB of stored files.
Any files uploaded by anonymous downloads expire if no more than 21 days (uploaded by free users, 90 days, and uploads Premiums, never). Initially, users had to fill in a text based captcha to download a file, this was removed later. Until recently, users had to wait unregistered about 60 seconds in the queue of the download, while users with a free registry had to wait 25 seconds later, after a renovation in the download page, eliminated the time limit. Both had to wait a certain amount of time between transfers after a certain amount of megabytes downloaded from had Megaupload servers.
Could be obtained by paying a premium account, which gave a wide range of privileges such as not expecting any queue files, perform more than one download simultaneously, use the Mega Manager program in full (unrestricted), upload files password protected, unlimited online space to upload your files and have no restrictions of any sort to upload files, among others. Also had Megaupload Megavideo, an online video streaming, to accommodate video files, like YouTube, but more specialized in long videos such as movies and series and Megaporn, another video site streaming but themed porn.
