Animal Planet Logo — Animal Planet, created in 1996, is a channel of cable TV and satellite is owned by Discovery Communications Inc. as a result of a sale of shares of the U.S. Animal Planet by the BBC for Discovery Networks, internationally (Latin America, Asia and Europe) the channel is owned by a joint venture between the BBC and Discovery Networks. In 2006 the BBC sold its 20% stake in U.S. Animal Planet Discovery Communications, the rest of the world the BBC follows with 50% of the channel.
The channel is devoted to programming related to the relationship between humans and animals. It is available in over 70 countries worldwide and has local versions in countries like Canada and India. Latin America currently has 7 channel broadcasting hours from Monday to Friday which is repeated several times a day. Usually there are different programs each day. The channel has two hours of “infomercials” in the morning. The weekend gives repeats of programming a week with some documentaries and “Animal Planet Movie.”
From the November 15, 2008, Animal Planet, renewed its logo screen with a more versatile and dynamic graphics package and completely changed. The most notable changes are the elimination of the charts of the elephant, the planet Earth, and the use of funds in various colors.
