Capcom Logo — Capcom Co., Ltd. is a Japanese developer and publisher of video games. Founded in 1979 as Japan Capsule Computers, a company engaged in the manufacture and distribution of video game machines. Its current name is the result of joining Cap sule Com puters. Capcom has created some of the most famous and enduring series in the history of videogames. He created his first arcade, Vulgus in 1984. His first games were still arcades like shoot’em up 1942.
In the late 80’s, Yoshiki Okamoto joined after leaving Capcom Konami. In 1987 Capcom marketed the game Street Fighter and the same year also published platformer Mega Man (Rockman in Japan) for the console Nintendo Entertainment System. Final Fight, a beat’em up, was posted: in 1989. In 1991, Street Fighter II, of Yoshi Okamoto, arrived in the arcades. Resident Evil (Biohazard in Japan), a successful survival horror, was released for PlayStation in 1996.
Two development companies dependent on Capcom, Clover Studio and Flagship also created hit games, including the series Viewtiful Joe and two sets of The Legend of Zelda made under the supervision of Shigeru Miyamoto. In 2002 it released a movie based on the series Resident Evil, which had a sequel, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, released in 2004, a third installment, Resident Evil: Extinction, released in September 2007, plus a fourth installment, Resident Evil Afterlife, September 2010, and in 2012 the movie Resident Evil: Retribution.
