It is one of the producers of video games largest independent United States . It is owned by Infogrames Entertainment SA (IESA). The company currently manages the Atari name was founded in 1993 under the name GT Interactive . GT Interactive was acquired by IESA in 1999 and changed its name to Infogrames Inc. Infogrames acquired the Atari brand, buying it from Hasbro Interactive , which in turn acquired it from the hands of JTS Corporation .

The original Atari was a pioneer in arcade games, video games, home and personal microcomputers, and its dominance in these areas remained a major force in the computer industry and entertainment from early to mid of 1980’s . The brand was also used several times by Atari Games, a division of the company in 1984 . The name Atari logo is “Fuji”.
Atari is now owned by Infogrames. His plays are published in USA under its own label Atari, while in Europe it does under the name of Namco Bandai Games (which owns 34% of the shares). Its main activity is currently focused on online games (MMO) with franchises like Star Trek and Champions Online. In May 2009, Infogrames Entertainment SA, the parent company of Atari Inc. and Atari Interactive Inc., announced it would change the company name to Atari, SA. In April 2010, the board member David Gardner resigned. His replacement is the founder of Atari Nolan Bushnell .
