Sir Ernest Oppenheimer along with American JP Morgan, founded the Anglo American Corporation, a gold mining company, in 1917 with £ 1 million, with British and American funds, and thereby derived the name of the company. The PCA is became the largest shareholder of the company De Beers in 1926. Two years later, the AAC began mining in the belt of Zambia for copper.
