FHM Logo — FHM or For Him Magazine is a magazine monthly to men. It was first published in the United Kingdom in 1985 under the name For Him , which changed to FHM eleven years later. Created by Chris Astridge, the magazine was based mainly on fashion and was distributed through outlets menswear. Its circulation grew at the newsstands and began to be published quarterly in 1987. FHM was sold by the company EMAP to Bauer Verlagsgruppe its German counterpart in December 2007.
After the appearance of the magazine Loaded, considered the Blueprint of men’s magazines- For Him editiorial redefined its position to compete with the expanding market by introducing a sports supplement. Then he began to be published monthly and shortened its name to FHM. Later, was released internationally.
FHM became one of the best-selling magazines in Britain in the mid 1990’s, shipping more than 700,000 copies monthly in 1991. At the end of that decade, the culture “for men” in that FHM had thrived began to decline and publishers focused on the tabloids to increase sales. In December 2006 it was announced that the print version of the FHM U.S. edition would be discontinued after March 2007 and converted into a digital format magazine: FHM Online.
