At first it was made ​​just for athletes. However, due to its bad taste (at first) and other problems with some ingredients, the drink was reformulated. The new formula provided better nutritional values ​​and taste even better.

Due to its good taste and their high nutritional value, the drink began to be consumed as a common drink. And thanks to that commercial initiatives, Gatorade brand, launched various products for athletes, seeking to have the same original function, rehydrate the athlete. Although Gatorade is the most popular beverage worldwide, has many competitors, such as Powerade, All Sport, among other sports drinks or isotonic.

The brand today has science institutes, which conducts tests to verify the performance of gatorade in athletes and allow the development of new products for the hydration of athletes. Gatorade was created by Dr. Robert Cade, the Dr. Dana Shires, the Dr. H. James Free and Dr. Alejandro de Quesada team initially for football from the University of Florida in the year 1965. The team name was Florida Gators (Florida Crocodile), so that later adopted the nickname of the university athletic, “the Gators.”
