Maserati Logo — Maserati SpA is a manufacturer Italian of cars owned luxury sports Fiat SpA. The brand Italian sports car Maserati was founded in Bologna by Alfieri Maserati in 1914. The emblem of Maserati trident is inspired by the statue of Neptune that adorns the main square of Bologna.
The brand was acquired in 1937 by businessman Adolfo Orsi, under whose direction Maserati produced the first automobile in which the class received the same attention as power. In 1968 Maserati was bought by Citroën, which in turn sold it in 1975 to a consortium managed by former Formula 1 driver Argentine Alejandro de Tomaso. De Tomaso, with the help of designer Ghia, created some of the most interesting cars of all time, Ghibli, Khamsin, Bora, Kyalami and biturbo models, among others. These names were taken from famous winds of Africa and Asia.
In 1993 Maserati was bought by Fiat SpA Maserati sales in 2004 represented an increase of 62% compared to 2003. Much of this growth was due to the demand of the Maserati Quattroporte, the model 4-door.
