Minnesota Vikings Logo — The Minnesota Vikings are a team of football playing in the National Football League or NFL. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota was founded by Max Winter in 1960 and began playing in the league in 1961 his best years were when they reached the Super Bowl in the 1970’s, when they had a great defensive team, but never been able to win. In total they have played in four Super Bowls losing them all.
The Minnesota Vikings compete in the NFC North of the National Conference (NFC) in the NFL since its restructuring of 2002. The so called “Vikes” have been one of the most successful franchises in the NFL with the second winning percentage, winning their respective division 18 times, the third between the teams currently playing in the league.
From 1961 to 1981 the Vikings played at home in the old Metropolitan Stadium where they played many games at temperatures below zero. From 1982 set his house in Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, along with the Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota and until 2009 for the Minnesota Twins of baseball in the major leagues. In the NFL Draft of 1961, the Vikings selected in the first round running back Tommy Mason of the University of Tulane in the third round and choose a young quarterback from Georgia named Fran Tarkenton, who would be the icon 60s team in three decades, 70s and 80s. His first coach was Norm Van Brocklin.
