Shoei Logo — Company created by Eitaro Kamata in 1958, it originates a company specializing in the manufacture of helmets for the construction industry since 1954. It mainly produces motorcycle helmets, first in the field of competition and in the general public.
Shoei’s reputation as a quality mark was first spread to the United States in the 1960s, when the brand Honda has provided credit support, then some time later in Europe. Shoei Safety Helmet Corp.. was established in 1968, shortly after construction of the factory of Ibaraki. The plant latest in Iwate Prefecture was built in 1989.
Since the beginning of the company, all Shoei helmets have been designed and manufactured in Japan, although they are distributed and sold worldwide. They are especially popular in the United States. The IBC Shoei helmet was the first helmet to use the carbon fiber and Kevlar. Shoei also created the first system “coverless” and the dual system of ventilation. Despite the success of its products, Shoei remains a relatively small company, employing under 500 people worldwide.
