Swansea City Logo — The Swansea City Association Football Club is a football club from Wales city of Swansea. It was founded in 1912 and plays in the Premier League of England. Founded in 1912 as Swansea Town AFC adopted in 1969, after obtaining Swansea city status, its current name. He joined the Football League in 1921 and is a member ever since. Between 1981 and 1983 played in the First Division, top flight of English football, finishing sixth in his first season. In 2010/11 season won promotion to the Premier League, becoming the first club in Wales that will play this tournament since its inception in 1992.
The Swansea City is one of the 6 teams participating in the Welsh Premiership. Until 1992 the FAW did not organize a tournament league, with the launch of the Welsh Premier League Swansea rejected the invitation to participate. In 1996 he left to participate in the Welsh Cup.
In the summer of 1912 is based in Swansea the Swansea Town Association Football Club. On September 7 of 1912 is held the first professional match against Cardiff City with the result a tie. That season Swansea took the Welsh Cup. In season 1914/15 the Blackburn Rovers, champion of England, visited the Vetch Field for a match in the FA Cup. The Swansea beat the English 1-0 with a goal of Ben Beynon. In the next round was eliminated by Newcastle United after a replay.
