The company was founded by William Fox in 1915 as Fox Film Corporation. William Fox, was a pioneer in the creation of chains of movie theaters, began producing films in 1914 and in 1917 achieved success by providing a sense of silent films, Theda Bara. It was more a businessman than a showman, Fox concentrated on acquiring and building theaters, the movies you were secondary.
