MG Logo — MG (Morris Garages) is a brand of car company created by the British namesake, a maker of sports cars, founded in 1924. Its emblem is a sign of cars with distinction. MG production ceased in the spring of 2005 when the group that owned the brand MG Rover filed for bankruptcy. However, in early 2007 the new owners of the brand, Nanjing Automobile Group, which acquired the company MG Rover, resumed production of MGs at the Longbridge plant and another plant in China.
GM took its name stands for “Morris Garages”, a provider of brand automobiles Morris in Oxford which began producing their own versions of the designs of Cecil Kimber who had joined the company in 1921 as Director of Sales and was promoted to CEO in 1922. Kimber continued as CEO until 1941, and died in 1945 in a train accident. In 1952 with the merger with BMC, John Thornley served as CEO and led the company through its best years until his retirement in 1969. More
