Edmonton Oilers Logo — The Edmonton Oilers are a team of ice hockey in the National Hockey League (NHL) in the city of Edmonton, Canada, which joined in 1979, after seven years of membership in the World Hockey Association. The Oilers have won the Stanley Cup five times: 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1990. They have also won the Presidents Trophy for best regular season team in 1984, 1986 and 1987. In 1983 they lost the final of the Stanley Cup against the New York Islanders. And in 2006 they lost the seventh game against Carolina Hurricanes.
Wayne Gretzky won the Hart Trophy as most valuable player eight times with the Oilers. He has also won the Art Ross Trophy seven times in Edmonton, the honor of being the top scorer (now known as Maurice Richard Trophy) 5 times, and the Conn Smythe Trophy as best player in the playoffs twice. Gretzky has established many records in the league over the Oilers, including the most goals (92), assists (163) and points (215) in a single season. More
