Tadao Kashio, founder of Casio Computer Co., Ltd., was born in Kureta-mura (now Nankoku) in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, in 1917. In 1923, after the Great Kanto Earthquake, Kashio whole family moved to Tokyo at the invitation of an uncle who worked there. After graduating from high school, Tadao began working as an apprentice lathe operator. The factory owner Tadao skills recognized and encouraged him to study at Waseda Gakko Koshu (now University of Waseda), while working at the factory.
