KTM is an acronym formed by the first letters of the surnames of its two founders and the Austrian town where the firm had its facilities: Kronreif, Trunkelpolz and Mattighofen, respectively.
The company was formed in 1934 by Hans Trunkenpolz and her two partners produced motorcycles with engine Rotax, Sachs and Puch. The drivers of the firm won the 250 Moto-x Championship International 1974. Other machines produced since the mid 70’s to the next decade, included the GS 400 and GS 350. More
