In recent years, there was talk of a team of American League based in Los Angeles. In 1940, the St. Louis Browns of asking owners of the league to move to Los Angeles but their motion is denied. They will get for the 1942 season but the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 meant that all leagues west coast were inviable. In 1953, again discussed moving the Browns to Los Angeles for the 1954 season but the team was sold and partly to Baltimore in place of the Orioles. There were still discussions with the Washington Senators and then the rumor of the departure of the Philadelphia Athletics to Kansas City that would have ended the Los Angeles destination. More
