Mondeca Logo — Mondeca is a French software publisher based in Paris, specializing in the management of ontologies and the semantic web. The company name comes from a place called Mont des Cats, instead of an abbey Cistercian located in French Flanders, also known for its cheese production. The name refers to the world of Marguerite Yourcenar, and a region with a long tradition of publishing, academic and intellectual freedom.
Mondeca was created in 2000 by private funds, under the initiative of its founder Jean Delahousse. The heart of the technology was designed in collaboration with a team of graph theory of the EHESS. In the months that followed its foundation, Mondeca became involved in the standardization process of topic maps, both in the working groups of ISO and OASIS, and in the years that followed, in standards of practice of deploying Semantic Web from W3C.
