Sports Illustrated Logo — Sports Illustrated, created on 19 August 1954, is a leading magazines sports weekly American, owned by giant media Time Warner. It has three million subscribers and is read by about 23 million people every week. A special issue is published annually since 1964 : Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

First two magazine called Sports Illustrated have emerged in the 1930s and then in the 1940s, but each has failed quickly. Later, Henry Luce (co-founder of Time) decided to launch a sports magazine covering all the sports news of the country after consideration of any magazine filled that role and there was a market. At that time, the sport is little attention in national newspapers because journalists do not pay any serious attention, and none saw how a sports magazine is filled throughout the year (especially during the winter).
