Tennessee Titans Logo — The Tennessee Titans are a team of the National Football League playing in Nashville, Tennessee, playing in the Southern Division of the American Conference. The franchise was founded in 1960 under the name Houston Oilers (Houston Oilers). The Titans have never won the Super Bowl, having played only once in 1999 against the St. Louis Rams.
The origin of the name of the Oilers franchise is that Houston was a city where the economy came from the oil and to better represent to the other workers of this fuel its founders along with Bud Adams decided to call the team the Houston Oilers.
Houston Oilers was one of the teams who founded the American Football League with Dallas Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, among others. Not only is some original AFL teams, but was also stronger with the Bills, Texans and Oakland Raiders, Oilers coming to be champion in 1960 and 1961 (was the first champion of the league) with Lou Rymkus as head coach and George Blanda at quarterback. In the 1967 season lost to the Oakland Raiders, being out of reach Super Bowl II, but the Oilers would be the winningest team of the old AFL. His first stage was the Jeppesen Stadium in 1967 to Rice Stadium.
