AGV Logo — Amisano Gino Valenza or AGV SpA is a company Italian, founded in 1946, specialized in manufacturing motorcycle helmets. It is based in Alexandria, in the Piedmont. In 1946 , VFA began by manufacturing leather seats and motorcycle saddles. A year later, in 1947, she began producing motorcycle helmets. AGV competes with brands of helmets “upscale” as Arai and Shoei in Japan , Shark in France , Schuberth of Germany , Bell to the United States and other Italian manufacturers like Suomy, Nolan, X-lite, Givi.
Although many sprinters bike have been wearing helmets AGV, the brand is most often associated with both multiple world champions Italy Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi who used them for much of their careers. Barry Sheene also focused AGV helmets, but then changed to Arai, along with Giacomo Agostini. In the past, the brand also features world champions of Formula 1 as Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi, Alan Jones and Nelson Piquet.
Among the motorcycle champions include Giacomo Agostini, Angel Nieto, Franco Uncini, Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts, Marco Lucchinelli, Randy Mamola, Wayne Rainey, Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi, Valentino Rossi, Manuel Poggiali. These collaborations have brought many victories to AGV and over 130 world championship titles, in addition to the final establishment of the AGV brand on a global scale. Valentino Rossi AGV always wear helmets, it is the only representative of the brand in MotoGP today.
In 250 cc, Hector Barbera, Lukas Pesek, Mattia Pasini and Marco Simoncelli wear helmets AGV, whereas in 125 cc , it is Raffaele De Rosa and Michael Ranseder which are sponsored by the brand. In 2007, the Italian manufacturer Dainese bought AGV to the Belgian company IMAG , making him her Italian citizenship. In July 2009, Gino Amisano, the brand founder, dies of pneumonia at the age of 89.
