Download Avengers Logo — The Avengers (in English , The Avengers ) are a group of superheroes consisting of characters from the publisher U.S. Marvel Comics . The team made its debut in The Avengers # (September 1963), one created by the comic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby . The Avengers began as a response to a series of Justice League of the company DC Comics , originally based on the same premise of bringing together the main characters of the publisher. Originally composed for the Avengers Hulk , Thor , Iron Man , Wasp , Henry Pym (aka Ant-Man/Giant-Man). The Captain America joined in The Avengers # 4 .
The publisher Marvel Comics , with a single superhero team The Fantastic 4 (1961), decided to compete with the Justice League (1960) Publisher DC Comics including the characters most popular editorial, like Superman and Batman of the Universe DC . 3 Two years after the debut of Fantastic 4 Marvel publishes The Avengers, under the theme “(…) to face the enemies that no hero could defeat itself.” Originally the group consisted of Hulk , Thor , Iron Man , Henry Pym (aka Ant Man, Giant Man) and The Wasp , being little later joined Captain America , Hawkeye , Scarlet Witch , Quicksilver , Black Panther , The Vision , Black Widow and many other characters from the publisher.
The history of the Avengers is complex, the presence of Hulk and his son in those early numbers is almost anecdotal and apológica, having returned to join the group officially, and although subsequent joining of the first mission of the group Captain America is today considered one of the founding members of the same, forming along with Thor and Iron Man’s iconic “Trinidad Avenger”, defined as the three main characters of the team.
One feature that distinguishes the Avengers of any other group of superheroes is that they are internationally recognized for their heroism and responsibilities with the full support of almost every nation on the planet, and even at the time funded by the UN , for which often play missions and rescue operations. Despite this, there is a “State group (s)”, government response, and often have faced political interests (such as during the Bloodline event that united the group with the X-Men in Genosha or in the event Civil War where Captain America lead a split in the group against the “Superhuman Registration Act,” a clear allegory and critique of Bush policy JR. post-11s and the “Patriot Act” that passed in administration). The truth is that it could be seen as a group of modern adventurers club (and, above all, friends), having been its first head office of the Stark Mansion majestic, with its own rules and membership card even aware of their responsibilities to the world and the need to join forces against threats that could not cope alone.
Stan Lee omitted the use of the characters in Fantastic 4 because they were part of a group and avoided the Dr. Strange and Spider-Man arguing that they were lonely people who would not work within a group (Spider-Man would not be part of the Avengers until decades later, in 2005, and Doctor Strange joined the group in 2007).
