Castrol Logo — Castrol is a company UK specializing in the design and sale of lubricants for engines. Castrol is part of BP (British Petroleum), but has retained its identity. It was founded in 1899 by Charles “Cheers” Wakefield (hence the original name of the company “Wakefield Oil Company”). It was renamed Castrol in 1909, in reference to castor oil (Castor oil, castor oil in English), which was used to make these lubricants.
In 1966, Castrol was bought by “British oil company Burmah,” which was renamed Burmah-Castrol. In 2000, Burmah-Castrol is again acquired by BP Amoco plc (now BP plc). Castrol lubricants continue to be present worldwide and are, in many areas, the market leader. This company is active in motorsport, it provides fuel the team Red Bull Racing in Formula 1 , it is also a partner of many teams on motorcycles (motocross and GP), in particular Suzuki.
