Danone Logo — Groupe Danone ( Groupe Danone SA in French ), better known as Danone (or Dannon in the United States ) is a multinational of food which is headquartered in Paris , France . It specializes in dairy products , especially in its famous yogurt . The company Danone was founded in 1919 by Isaac Carasso in Barcelona ( Spain ) as a small factory that produced handmade yogurt in dels Angels Street No. 16 (Raval). It was the birth of industrial yogurt Spain . The name of the factory was “Danone” by the diminutive of the name of his first son, Daniel ( “Danon” was the familiar name of Daniel Carasso).
Danone initially manufactured only for the city of Barcelona , and sold its products in pharmacies. Isaac Carasso negotiated with the company’s tramway Barcelona a price for the collectors who would leave their lines at the pharmacy jars accordingly. The products were manufactured in the evening. The vehicles were taken to the first hour, a small refrigerator with 24 jars inside, and slowed even where there was no stop for delivery. And so the customer could pick up the order in time for breakfast.
In 1929 , Isaac Carasso founded Danone France. In 1930 , thanks to Elizabeth, sister of Alfonso XIII and addicted to desserts from Danone, the company became a supplier to the Spanish Royal Family. In Spain , in addition to central Barcelona (Plaza Francesc Macia), Danone has plants in Asturias , Valencia , Madrid , Sevilla and Tenerife . The son of the founder of Danone’s Daniel Carasso, the leader of French companies (which became the mark in a global group), died in Paris in 2009 to 103 years old and never gave up Spanish nationality both personal and business.
On April 20 of the 2009 Danone opened on Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona , its first store in the world direct to the public, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the brand. A flagship store yogurtería chairs where you can taste the milk in a variety of combinations. It also has a restaurant specializing in healthy balanced diets, and a museum explaining the history of yogurt. It also has two conference rooms.
Danone owns the brands Agua Salus (exported to Brazil and Puma Water), Aguas de Lanjaron , Volvic , Evian , Badoit , Lattella , Actimel / Activia , Bonafont. In Latin America , has a presence in Argentina (milk and water offered for sale in partnership with the local company ” La Serenissima “), Brazil (dairy), Uruguay (milk and water) in Mexico (milk and water) and Colombia are produced in the new and modern facility, built in partnership with Alquería (leader in the UHT ). Its products also come to Chile , in late 2007 began production in Chile , after acquiring a plant in Chillán .
