Lavazza Logo — Luigi Lavazza SpA is an Italian coffee refiners and distributors of coffee beans and flour based in Turin (Northern Italy). Was founder Luigi Lavazza (1859-1949), the first roasted coffee in a small retail business and sold. His grandson, Emilio († 16 February 2010) built the company into one of the big coffee companies in Italy. Today, Lavazza is especially espresso coffee known and exported throughout Europe.
Lavazza SpA is today the fourth generation of family ownership. Lavazza has begun in recent years with the opening of their own coffeehouses primarily in major Italian cities, and at motorway service areas and is now isolated to Germany. The company employs approximately 2,000 people and had 2008 revenues of € 1.1216 billion.
In June 2010, was the German Coffee Association in Hamburg, the Federal Cartel Office accused of having promoted with a press release in February 2005, a cartel of coffee company, which is why a penalty was imposed of up to 90,000 €. Among the coffee roasters were involved in addition to the Lavazza company Kraft Foods Out of the Office Service (Bremen), Tchibo (Hamburg), Seeberger (Ulm), Segafredo Zanetti Germany (Munich), Gebr Westhoff (Bremen), Melitta System Service (Minden), and JJ Darboven (Hamburg). The latter two companies have reduced the fine because of her cooperation in investigating the allegations.
