LinuxTag Logo — LinuxTag is an exhibition of free software with an emphasis on Linux (but also in the operating system BSD), held each summer in Germany. Is a relatively important, claiming to be the largest exhibition of its kind in Europe, attracting visitors from various countries. The slogan of LinuxTag is “Where.COM meets.ORG”, as it includes representatives of both companies trade organizations as nonprofit.
The LinuxTag has also been a sponsor of several other projects, especially Knoppix, a Live CD of Linux. Knoppix is often used to compare a Linux software running on a computer configured with another operating system (usually Microsoft Windows or Mac The X).
The event is usually sponsored by companies related to information technology and at least some of their interactions, by the German Government. LinuxTag 2007 was the victim of a boycott because it was officially assisted under the patronage of German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble, a member of the conservative party CDU.
