Pininfarina Logo — Pininfarina SpA (short for Carozzeria Pininfarina) is an automotive design firm and designer of high-speed trains and a body builder located in Turin (Italy), founded in 1930 by designer and maker of cars Battista “Pinin” Farina (continuing with the company, the family name became Pininfarina in 1961 as a result of combining his nickname and last name).
Over the years the company has been employed by many automobile manufacturers , especially Ferrari, Maserati, Cadillac, Nash, Peugeot, Jaguar, Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Ford, GM, and Lancia. From the 80’s Pininfarina has also provided consulting industrial design and interior design to corporate clients. The company has designed trams (eg those in Lille) and trains (as the domestic high-speed trains currently being built Dutch).
Today Pininfarina has yet to know who will take care of her after the death of the grandson of Battista “Pinin” Farina, Andrea Pininfarina in a traffic accident, impacting his motorcycle into a car. The incident occurred on August 7, 2008. The Pininfarina Group employs over 3,000 people in subsidiary company offices throughout Europe and in Morocco and China. Pininfarina is registered and traded on the Borsa Italiana (Exchange of Shares of Milan).
