St. Louis Blues Logo — St. Louis Blues are a professional team of ice hockey in the United States located in St. Louis (Missouri). Founded in 1967 as an expansion team, and owes its name to the song St. Louis Blues, from WC Handy. The team plays in the National Hockey League framed in the Central Division.
St. Louis Blues was one of six eqiupos created for the expansion of the NHL in 1967, along with Minnesota North Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Seals California. The franchise was originally scheduled for Baltimore, but the owners of Chicago Blackhawks interceded for the new equipment is housed in the St. Louis Arena, golf property. Thus, the city of St. Louis got the franchise despite never made a formal request to host a team. The owners were Salomon family, owners of several insurers, while his coach was Lynn Patrick.
In 2004 the team lost for the first time in twenty-five playoff. It is also the first time the stadium attendance drops to 12,000, and the Blues began to pass a difficult patch. The franchise was sold again, this consortium acso Sports Capital Partners Worldwide, led by Dave Checketts. After being last in the league in 2006, SCP reconstruction team announced the intention to be competitive and return to the playoff for the title.
