St. Louis Blues was one of six eqiupos created for the expansion of the NHL in 1967, along with Minnesota North Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Seals California. The franchise was originally scheduled for Baltimore, but the owners of Chicago Blackhawks interceded for the new equipment is housed in the St. Louis Arena, golf property. Thus, the city of St. Louis got the franchise despite never made a formal request to host a team. The owners were Salomon family, owners of several insurers, while his coach was Lynn Patrick. More
