UFC Logo — The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a development of mixed martial arts, based in the United States. Dana White is president of the UFC, while Zuffa, LLC (controlled by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta) is the owner of the company. UFC is one of the pioneering organizations in this type of fighting (by the Japanese organization PRIDE Fighting Championships), has been active since 1993 and was the first company that held such events in the United States and a pioneer in the world by the Japanese Pancrase, which debuted months earlier (with special rules, like not letting the fist strike with the head).
At its inception, the brand Ultimate Fighting Championship was owned by the company Semaphore Entertainment Group (SEG), and fighting organized under the rules of Vale Tudo (no biting and putting fingers in the eyes), the fighters were forced to use only a mouth guard and mitts use was voluntary, although most prefer not to. Battles are fought in a cage octagonal, much bigger than a ring of boxing, and could only win by KO (a fighter can not defend itself or it does not intelligently, when the referee stops the fight) or abandonment, usually by braces to the extremities or bottlenecks. Although in the first editions had no weight classes or time limits, little by little these rules were imposed.
Today the battles are more exciting, dynamic and unpredictable than before, and thus UFC has not stopped growing, both United States and the rest of the world. Since its inception it remains the largest MMA western world and a reference. You can continue by viewing payment (pay per view) throughout the United States, and through DVD in the world. In August 2011, Fox Sports (USA) announced it had reached an agreement to transfer seven years with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which broadcasted the Spike TV. Fox Sports broadcast all matches live for all of Latin America.
