Visa Logo — Visa is a brand of credit card and debit card that works worldwide. It is operated by Visa International Service Association , based in San Francisco , California ( USA ). It is a joint venture of 21,000 financial institutions that offer Visa products. Visa is one of the leading payment brands in the world. Visa cards generate a turnover exceeding 2.6 billion euros (nearly $ 3 trillion) annually. In Europe there are more than 282 million credit cards, Visa debit and companies. In the 12 months ending March 2005 those cards were used to make purchases and cash withdrawals for a total of almost one billion euros. It has an unsurpassed acceptance in more businesses spanning 150 countries. It is an association that plays a role in the global media industry to pay, developing innovative products and technologies that benefit its 21,000 member banks, as holders of credit cards.

In Spain there are 37.9 million Visa cards, which in 2004 generated a turnover of more than 101,390 million euros, of which 48.6% was held in retail purchases.
