MG Logo — MG (Morris Garages) is a brand of car company created by the British namesake, a maker of sports cars, founded in 1924. Its emblem is a sign of cars with distinction. MG production ceased in the spring of 2005 when the group that owned the brand MG Rover filed for bankruptcy. However, in early 2007 the new owners of the brand, Nanjing Automobile Group, which acquired the company MG Rover, resumed production of MGs at the Longbridge plant and another plant in China.

GM took its name stands for “Morris Garages”, a provider of brand automobiles Morris in Oxford which began producing their own versions of the designs of Cecil Kimber who had joined the company in 1921 as Director of Sales and was promoted to CEO in 1922. Kimber continued as CEO until 1941, and died in 1945 in a train accident. In 1952 with the merger with BMC, John Thornley served as CEO and led the company through its best years until his retirement in 1969. More

The company has historical roots with the involvement of its founder who was the technical director of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (Daimler). Today, based in Stuttgart, the company is owned by Daimler AG, along with the brands Mercedes Benz and Smart. Between 1921 and 1940, the company built several opulent vehicles.

The company also built strong and heavy diesel engines for use by the infantry and the railroad. Among the famous locomotives with Maybach engines include the German V200 and British Rail Class 52. In 1960, Daimler-Benz acquired a majority of the shares of Maybach.
