Dakar Rally Logo — The Dakar Rally is an annual competition in rally raid disputed during the first weeks of January, considered one of the toughest rallies and the most famous in the world. Until 2008, during the time that lasted the test, took the runners from some city in Europe, to the city of Dakar, Senegal. For many years left Paris but since 1995 has changed his starting place for other European cities (Granada, Lisbon), largely for political advertising or because the real competition did not start until it entered the African continent.

Also, the end of the test was not always Dakar. In 1992, the race crossed the entire African continent, ending in Cape Town, in South Africa. In 2000 and 2003 the race ended in Egypt, in the cities of Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh, respectively, with the pyramids as landscape. Because in 2008 was suspended on the recommendation of the government of France for possible terrorist attacks, the rally takes place since 2009 between the South American countries of Argentina and Chile, and since 2012, Peru is also home to the competition.

The four categories are participating cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs. The terrain varies considerably across areas of sand, rocks, mud and vegetation, to roads. Enrollment in the trial is open, which makes it the ideal career for adventure lovers. The participation of amateur competitors often reaches 80% of those registered, major brands of car and truck manufacturers present their new models of modified vehicles to the test, in what has become a competitive brand manufacturers cars, trucks and motorcycles.
