Espanyol Logo — The Real Club Deportivo Espanyol (officially and in Catalan, Reial Club Espanyol Deportiu SAD) is a club of football Spanish playing in the First Division. It was founded on October 28th of 1900 by a group of university Catalans who were studying at the University of Barcelona and its first Chairman Angel Rodriguez Ruiz. He was born under the name of the Spanish Football League because all components were Catalan or the rest of Spain, as opposed to some teams made up mostly of foreigners, as was the case of FC Barcelona. RCD Spanish is also the sixth oldest club in Spain.
Although their colors are white and blue, the first Spanish jerseys were yellow, as one of its managers gave the entity the sport since he had plenty of cloth of that color.
