Queens Park Rangers Logo — The Queens Park Rangers Football Club and QPR is a club of football in England, of Shepherd’s Bush, in the district of London on Hammersmith and Fulham. It was founded in 1882 and plays in the Premier League. In August 2007 the QPR was bought by tycoon Formula 1, Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, who sold 20% to the family of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal in December of that year. Alejandro Agag also came with Briatore the shareholders of the club.
The Queens Park Rangers (QPR) was founded in 1882 following the merger between two teams, the St. Jude’s and Christchurch Rangers. The team was called Queens Park Rangers, because most of the players came from Queens Park, an area of northwest London. Queens Park Rangers became professional in 1889.
Francis was fired in 2001 after leaving the team close to falling to the Second Division. Ian Holloway, a former midfielder, he returned to lead the QPR, but could not save them from relegation to the Second Division. For the first time in 30 years the team was in the third echelon of English football. In the 2001-02 season finished eighth in the Second Division. QPR in the 2002-03 season ranked the playoffs, but lost the final match 1-0 against Cardiff City.
The 2003-04 season was the best QPR in many years. Finished second, bringing the Football League Championship. The 2004-05 season were at No. 11. In the 2005-06 season, this time with new coach Gary Waddock, the league finished at No. 21. On March 1, 2010 Neil Warnock was appointed Manager. On April 30, 2011, QPR is crowned champion of the Football League One and finally secures promotion to the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Watford FC.
