Hooters Logo — Hooters is the trade name owned by two American restaurant chains: Hooters of America, Inc., established in Atlanta, Georgia, and Hooters, Inc., based in Clearwater, Florida. Between the two companies have local franchises called Hooters, counting in 2007 with over 425 restaurants in 46 states of the United States and 19 other countries, including Costa Rica, Republic first country outside the U.S. where they opened) and Spain.
Hooters targets male customers to female staff telling as scantily-clad waitresses, although there are men working at Hooters as cooks, hosts, bartenders, and managers. The menu includes hamburgers and other sandwiches, steaks, seafood and chicken. Also specializes in Buffalo wings. Almost all Hooters hold licenses to sell alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine.
Hooters began operations on October 4, 1983 with a restaurant in Clearwater, Florida. In 1984, Robert H. Brooks and a group of Atlanta investors bought it and the franchise rights for Hooters chain. Brooks eventually bought most of the company and became president of it. Led by Brooks, Hooters expanded from one restaurant to have more than 425 locales around the world. Brooks died in July 2006.
