Since then it has become a major electronics companies in the world. As a semiconductor maker, Sharp is one of 20 Leaders, Sales, and is among the top hundred companies in investment in research and development according to the list published in the journal IEEE Spectrum . Gained popularity in the United Kingdom to sponsor the Manchester United FC from 1982 to 2000, which was a great period of success for the club.

In 1912, Tokuji Hayakawa founded a metal workshop in Tokyo . His first invention was a buckle clasp called ‘Tokubijo’. One of his first inventions was the Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil in 1915 , which takes its name from Sharp Corporation. After the pencil business was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 , the company was established in Osaka and started designing the first Japanese radio sets. They went on sale in 1925 . In 1953 began production of the first TVs in Japan. Other notable achievements include the first calculator desktop use only transistors of the world in 1964 and the first calculator with LCD in 1973 . LCD technology continues to be a key part of Sharp’s product range, both components and finished products. More
