Genoa Logo — The Genoa Cricket and Football Club is a club football in Italy , the city of Genoa in the region of Liguria . It was founded on 7 September of 1893 as Cricket and Athletic Club by representatives of the important British colony of Genoa, an industrial city and equipped with one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean. In 1899 he changed the name to Genoa Cricket and Football Club. Their rivals are the Sampdoria , who disputes the box called della Lanterna Derbi .

Built in 1911, thanks to club members who donated Musso Piantelli the site adjacent to his mansion in Marassi, and inaugurated on January 22 of that year on the occasion of Genoa-Inter match, the stadium of Genoa was remodeled in 1933 to have a capacity of 40000 spectators, during the forty years of the club, was dedicated to Luigi Ferraris, one of the players of Genoa who died in the First World War conflict that killed the founder James Spensley.
