Telecom Italia Logo — Telecom Italia is a private Italian of telecommunications that has inherited the fixed telephone network of the former public operator of the same name. Telecom Italia was born from the merger in July 1994 of the latter with the company Olivetti. This operation, launched by the Managing Director of Olivetti at the time, Roberto Colaninno marked the Italian world of finance and business. It is indeed a takeover daring which enabled it to take control of a much larger group, which saw OPA also realize the privatization of Telecom Italia SpA and Olivetti simultaneously converting from its traditional in materials and services to telecommunications.
Telecom Italia was founded formally in 1994, by Act of June 30 the board of the public group IRI approving the “Plan for restructuring of telecommunications “under the provisions adopted by the law of 29 January 1992. This restructuring involved the merger of five group companies IRI — STET operating in the telephony sector: Società Piemontese Idroelettrica (SIP), Iritel, Italcable, Telespazio and SIRM. This fusion was born Telecom Italia.
The company was privatized in 1999 through the sale of 97% stake in the company Olivetti of Roberto Colaninno. Since July 2001, it became property of the company Olimpia, cofiliale 50/50 Pirelli and Benetton. In December 2008, Free buys French subsidiary of Telecom Italia ( Alice ADSL among others). On 6 July 2011, Disney and Telecom Italia are launching a catalog of video on demand on the platform of IPTV Cubovision. In March 2012, the Milan prosecutors opened an investigation into the operator as part of a scam to SIM.
