The Independent logo — The Independent is a newspaper British published by Independent News & Media of Tony O’Reilly . It has the nickname “the indie”, while the Sunday edition is dubbed “the Sindie”. Launched in 1986 , is the youngest of all the national newspapers in the United Kingdom , with a circulation of about 250,000 copies in 2004 . While the paper tries to genuinely represent and contrast the political views of the country, has recently promoted electoral campaigns and environmental reform, and against British identity cards.
