The club was founded in 1896 as part of the Società di ginnastica and Scherma Udinese . In its inaugural year, the club won the tournament FNGI in Treviso beating Ferrara 2-0. However, the title is not recognized as official. On 5 July 1911 , members of Udinese, led by Luigi Dal Dan founded the AC Udinese which joined the FIGC. He made his debut in a friendly discover the Palmanova Juventus winning 6-0. Udinese recently in 1912-13 took part in an official FIGC championship. In that year he enlisted in the championship Promozione Di Veneto, which consisted of 3 teams (the others were Petrarch and Padova ). With two wins on the Padova (3-1 and 5-0), Udinese finished ensegundo place behind Petrarca and was promoted to the premium category. In this league, Udi failed to reach the National League, being eliminated in the Qualifying Veneta .
